Ryan Reynolds is the prime example of “slow and steady wins the race.” How rare is it that a male star is equally adored by men as much as women? Well, Ryan Reynolds has wooed his audience with his charm and wry wit and is rightly called the man of all men. He has been married to actress Blake Lively since 2012 and they are one of Hollywood’s most loved couple for a number of reasons, a major one being their humorous interactions on social media. No one trolls them better than they themselves. Okay, where do I sign up to have a love story like theirs? *Alexa, play Crying in the Club by Camila Cabello*

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

Reynolds started his career in the comedy genre. Looking at his stardom it might be hard to believe he struggled for years to be regarded as a bankable actor. His early years got him noticed as Jim Carrey’s lookalike but to create a name for himself has taken a lot of hit-and-miss experiments throughout his career. We are listing some of the best Ryan Reynolds movies that got him the superstardom that you see today.

Deadpool (2016)

Deadpool
Rotten Tomatoes Rating85%
Release Date12 February 2016
Directed ByTim Miller

This will always top the list of Ryan Reynolds movies, not just for the movie being a box office hit but Deadpool also turned around Reynolds’ career. The actor got the much-deserved recognition for his portrayal of the titular character. The irreverent humor of the character suited well with the actor’s humorous image and the action sequence helped establish him as an action hero as well.
The movie is about an ex-Special Force operative, Wade Wilson, who as a part of a science experiment turns into his alter-ego, Deadpool, with supernatural healing powers. Deadpool is not your regular superhero movie and resonates with the audience, unlike other movies with over-the-top action sequences.

The Adam Project is a Netflix original movie based on time traveling. The movie can be called an amalgamation of many other movies of the same theme but better. The movie also starred Zoe Saldana and was one of Zoe Saldana’s most-awaited movies. From the director of Stranger Things, the movie was not much appreciated by the critics but the audience had a different opinion and loved this Ryan Reynolds movie.

The plot is about a pilot named Adam Reed who time travels to know about his wife who vanishes suddenly. But in the process, he ends up in the wrong year and meets his younger self, and decides to team up with him. While his younger self is trying to cope with the death of his father, both Adams realize that they can’t get along with each other.

The multi-starrer Red Notice was released in 2021 with Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson in the lead. The movie is often quoted as one of the best movies of Gal Gadot. This Ryan Reynolds movie once again saw the actor’s unique blend of humor with action.

Ryan Reynolds plays the character of an art thief, Nolan Booth, who gets the chance to team up with an FBI agent, John Hartley, to catch the world’s most notorious art thief, The Bishop. The most challenging part of the mission is not to face The Bishop but to get along with each other. The movie was earlier set for a theatrical release but had to be released on Netflix and ended up receiving a positive response from the audience.

The movie is set in one such alternate universe called Ryme City where humans and Pokemon live together.

Tim has always dreamt of becoming a Pokemon trainer and comes across an amnesiac Pikachu who used to work with his father. Free Guy (2021)

Free Guy
Rotten Tomatoes Rating80%
Release Date13 August 2021
Directed ByShawn Levy

The movie won the hearts of the audience with its unique storyline and was a box-office success. Free Guy is set in an open-world gaming world where Ryan Reynolds plays the character of ‘Guy.’ He is a nonplayer character and is not aware of his identity and the world he exists in. But everything changes when he comes in contact with a human player who encourages him to upgrade his level.

Determined to change his destiny, Guy learns that he has the ability to play for himself. What follows is an inspiring story of determination but obviously with a touch of humor. The movie was appreciated for its visual effects, storyline, and star cast which includes Lil Rey Howery, Joe Keery, Jodie Comer, and Taika Waititi
These actors did well to steal the spotlight from Reynolds. Joe Keery from Stranger Things played the role of Walter “Keys” Mckey, his character was well appreciated by the audience, and Free Guy is considered to be one of his best movies. If you are keen to watch his performances, you can check out the list of Joe Keery movies and TV shows, that will surely make you his fan of acting.

Buried (2010)

Buried
Rotten Tomatoes Rating87%
Release Date27 September 2010
Directed ByRodrigo Cortes

This one belongs to the days when the actor was struggling to find his place and experimented with the roles. Safe to say this was a successful experiment and is still counted as one of the must-watch Ryan Reynolds movies. Released in 2010, Buried is about a prisoner of war in Iraq named Paul Conroy. The whole movie relies on Ryan Reynolds and proves his ability to star

Paul Conroy is an American truck driver working in Iraq who one day wakes up in a claustrophobic space only to realize that he has been buried alive by a group of terrorists. The only medium for communication with the outside world is a Blackberry phone but as he contacts the authorities his hope from the outside world starts fading. He starts his fight against time as his only hope for escape is now himself.

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Deadpool 2
Rotten Tomatoes Rating84%
Release Date18 May 2018
Directed ByDavid Leitch

With the mass success of Deadpool the comeback of our sassy superhero was inevitable. The movie saw Wade Wilson once again being a part of a family and his more twisted humor. The movie performed well but somewhere fell short of the audience’s expectations. The movie was a box office success and is no doubt one of the most loved Ryan Reynolds movies.

Definitely, Maybe (2008)

Definitely, Maybe
Rotten Tomatoes Rating71%
Release Date8 February 2008
Directed ByAdam Brooks

This romantic comedy feels close to the real-life Ryan Reynolds as he plays a family guy, something fans have always looked up to him for. Definitely, Maybe indulge you in a guess ‘How I Met Your Mother’ game as Ryan’s character Will Hayes has to tell about his past romance and upcoming divorce from his 10-year-old daughter.

The movie feels like a fresh breath of air with Will’s take on romantic relationships and how he has to talk in metaphors to make sure a 10-year-old can relate to him. Along with the viewers his daughter has to guess who her father married after listening to three love stories from his past. This one is one of my personal favorites on this list of Ryan Reynolds movies and is one of must-watch movies.

Woman in Gold is a biographical drama film on the life of a Jewish lady, Maria Altmann, who fought with the government of Austria to claim an iconic painting of her aunt. She along with her young lawyer Randy Schoenberg, played by Ryan Reynolds, fought for over a decade. The story is uplifting and disheartening at the same time as it shows the strong emotions of humans for what they love but also what war and greed can take from them.
