There are some actors that are known for their action stunts and their cool masculine looks, just like Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. Just like him, there’s another such actor who has built a career as an action superstar; Jason Statham. Growing up in England, Statham was known to be one of the most perfectly trained divers.

Not only was he just a diver, but he also participated in Britain’s National Swimming Squad for over 12 years and even competed in the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Well, that was just his career as a diver. As an actor, and a model featuring in various music videos, he has most often played and graced the roles of galleries of thieves, toughs, and traitors over the years, basically, he has been the villain in most of his movies.

So if you are wondering about the best Jason Statham movies, and excited about his upcoming film, here’s something exciting for you.

The Meg (2018)

Putting his aquatic acumen to very good use in this one, Statham really nailed the role. The movie is about a giant shark that escaped the deep sea trench and is now on the loose. It is a perfect classic gruff heroic role for Statham breaking it by showing off some classic and impressive diving techniques while he battles this gigantic beast.

Well, this was just in 2018, the fans will be appalled to know that Meg 2: Trench is also up in the theaters. Hence, you can once again witness this cinematic masterpiece.

The Fate of the Furious (2017)

The Fate of Furious

Ah, who all remembers this masterpiece? Well, I do because I watched it twice in the theater. After stealing the show in the 7th installment as villain Deckard Shaw, Statham was invited again to the next installment of the Fast and Furious Franchise. And this installment as well, he brought back his signature intensity and the touch of menace.

Not just that, his touch in The Fate of the Furious was even considered one of the best Jason Statham movies and has incredible scenes.

IMDb Rating- 6.6Rotten Tomatoes- 67%

Spy (2015)

the spy

Wait, you’re telling me that Statham did comedy and not action? Well, that is new and interesting. Completely different from what he does, he nailed this role as a CIA agent Rick Ford stealing the show from the hilarious McCarthy in every scene he is in.

It is a subtle jab as compared to what Statham usually does, but he certainly did it well. In fact, this was one of the greatest surprise appearances of the year.

IMDb Rating- 7Rotten Tomatoes- 95%

The Mechanic (2011)

the mechanic

The elite assassin subgenre is becoming somewhat everyone’s favorite these days, especially when played by actors like Jason. This one was a remake of the 1972 film where a hired gun kills people making it look like an accident. Plus, the action, the role, and the plot are ideally suited for heroes like Jason.

There are so many plot twists in the movie that no one has imagined, plus it’s a fun ride with Jason’s partner Foster. Even though the movie was a great hit, its 2016 sequel, The Mechanic: Resurrection wasn’t up to par.

IMDb Rating- 6.5Rotten Tomatoes- 53%

Wrath of Man (2021)

After whole 16 years, Guy Ritchie and Statham collaborated once again for this banger. The movie is a brutal thriller that leaves no punches to spare, and with Richie’s style, I don’t think anyone needs any more explanation.

The movie is a remake of a 2004 French movie; Cash Truck. Statham plays the role of H, the mysterious new driver for an armored truck company. However, everything isn’t like the way they’re shown in the beginning and the movie takes several turns during the course.

IMDb Rating- 7.1Rotten Tomatoes- 67%

Crank (2006)

the crank

Crank was named one of the most ingenious action films of the 2000s. Statham plays the role of a British hitman who has been poisoned but he must keep his adrenaline at peak to find out who wants to kill him and who did this. Now this puts him at the peak of doing every possible drug, wild driving, having sex with his girlfriend publicly, and of course, some significant brawls with gangsters.

The movie was surely praised by the critics, especially for Statham’s wild action, his skills, and the plot of course.

Hobbs & Shaw, 2019

hobbs and shaw

This one had to be on the list, after his stunning performance in the Fate of the  Furious, Statham was invited once again for the next installment of this movie franchise. One of the best Jason Statham movies, indeed Statham entered the movie franchise at the end of its sixth installment and since then, he has been a part of it.

This time, Shaw(Statham) teams up with Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to take down a techno-terrorist Brixton(Idris Elba). It might be weird and hard to grasp that Hobbs and Shaw are working together but they truly are.

And here it is, the one that marked the real and the most lovable performances by Statham. After his guest appearance in Furious 6, it was time for a real role with some recognition.

The movie follows Shaw who wants to get revenge on Toretto and his crew. The movie revolves around Shaw’s revenge and how Dom saves himself and his family before Shaw hurts anyone else in the family. Dom always puts family before anything and can do anything for the family. The Fast and Furious franchise is the best and most popular one in the Vin Diesel movies list.
