Emily Blunt has made her mark in Hollywood with various performances. In all the Emily Blunt movies whether it’s The Devil Wears Prada or even her debut movie My Summer of Love, her performance has always left the audience in awe. After Oppenheimer fans are once again reminded of her powerful acting and there is no way I am going to miss out on this opportunity to talk about the acting prowess of Emily Blunt

She has graced us all with some noteworthy performances and has earned numerous award nominations as well. There are talks about her getting nominated for the Oscars this year thanks to her recent portrayal of Kitty Oppenheimer. Though no official announcement has been made yet we are all eager to hear some positive news. But Oscar winner or not she has won our hearts all these years and as a tribute, we are listing Emily Blunt movies that are a must-watch.

A Quiet Place (2018)

A Quiet Place

Nothing brings out an actor’s true potential better than a horror thriller. A Quiet Place movie is about a post-apocalyptic world where people have to live in utter silence to stay safe from a mysterious and deadly creature that hunts by sound. This Emily Blunt movie will keep you on the edge of your seat as the Abbott family struggles to keep themselves alive after most of the population has been wiped off by this creature.

Abbott’s have learned to communicate through sign language but one major challenge before them is Emily being pregnant with their fourth child. When she experiences contractions and is in extreme pain, they are at risk of being attacked by this creature. The sweat-dripping moments with the cinematography and the performance of the actors are enough to keep you awake for days.

IMDb Rating: 7.5/10Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 96%

Sicario (2015)

Sicario

Sicario is the definition of a good Emily movie. The cast, the storyline, the cinematography, everything screams perfection. Emily Blunt played one of her most powerful characters of, Kate Macer, an FBI Agent who is part of a team assigned to take down a drug lord at the Mexico border. But Kate soon realizes that the mission is more complicated than it seems.

Kate learns about the people around her and can’t decide if she can trust them anymore. One revelation leads to another and the story soon takes a dark turn. The movie received a lot of praise from the critics for its suspense-filled storyline. The success of the movie made way for a sequel titled Sicario: Day of the Soldado and the third part is currently under discussion.

IMDb Rating: 7.7/10Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 92%

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The Devil Wears Prada

This Emily movie was never about her and starred big names like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the lead. With The Devil Wears Prada, Blunt proved her ability to shine on screen even with a supporting role which led to more work for her in Hollywood. She even earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the film.

The sassy character of Emily Charlton still brings a smile to everyone’s face and my favorite part of the character was her one-liners like “I’m just one stomach flu away from my goal weight.” The movie takes a humorous dig at the fashion industry and it’s working. Even after years of its release the movie still has the potential to be a hit among the current generation.

IMDb Rating: 6.9/10Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 75%

Oppenheimer (2023)

Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s directorial Oppenheimer has been the talk of the town and does not look like the fever is going down anytime soon. The biopic movie takes us through the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a physicist who made a major contribution towards developing the world’s first nuclear weapon. Cillian Murphy played the titular lead character and this is undoubtedly one of Cillian Murphy’s best movies to date.

In the movie, Emily Blunt played the character of Kitty Oppenheimer, the wife of Robert Oppenheimer. But Kitty is not your traditional housewife with no voice of her own. Her depth of character and strong opinions stand out in a male-dominated society and if you love to watch Blunt’s portrayal of strong women, the interview scene from the movie will not disappoint you. If you have not already watched the movie trust me you are missing out on a true masterpiece.

IMDb Rating: 8.6/10Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 93%

Looper (2012)

Looper

With a storyline so fine it’s hard to believe Looper was released a decade ago. The sci-fi action thriller is set in 2074 where Joe, played by Joseph Gorden, is a ‘looper’ or assassin who works for a crime syndicate. What makes the movie different from your regular gangster movies is that their boss sends men from the future to be killed into the past where loopers can dispose of the body without any evidence.

Loopers are not aware that their own future self will be sent back in the past to be killed by their younger self in order to erase all evidence. But when Joe learns about this he prepares himself to face his younger self and when the day comes he successfully escapes. But the story does not end here, in fact, this is just the beginning.

IMDb Rating: 7.4/10Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 93%

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Edge of Tomorrow

The Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt starrer Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi movie where Blunt can be seen in a full-blown action avatar fighting against extraterrestrials. Cruise has won the hearts of his audience from the Top Gun movies days and continues to do so. He plays the character of Major William Cage who has never been part of combat but is thrown into a war situation resulting in his death within a few minutes.

William finds himself stuck in a time loop where he keeps waking up on the day he has died and has to relive his death again and again (note the irony, my lord). But with the help of a Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski, played by Emily Blunt, and his past mistakes he learns to fight better and might even win over the enemies soon.

The duo instantly connect with each other sharing their lives and common family traumas. They soon realize that they have more in common than what can meet the eyes of society. A Quiet Place Part 2 (2021)

A Quiet Place Part 2

It is common for movies to have a sequel after performing well at the box office but it is hard to keep up with the expectations of the audience. A Quiet Place Part 2 served the audience with an even better storyline. The movie picks up from right where the prequel left and this time the whole focus is on Emily Blunt’s character of Evelyn. One more addition to the star cast includes Cillian Murphy whose contribution to the story made the movie one of the best Emily Blunt movies.

This time Evelyn has to protect herself and her children after the death of her husband in the prequel. The family meets a fellow survivor, played by Cillian Murphey, and together they navigate their way through the deadly silence. The movie successfully carried on the nerve-wracking suspense factor and earned appreciation from the critics and the audience.

To distract herself from the bitter memories, she starts noticing a couple, Megan and Scott, who live a few houses down and often daydreams about the couple’s happy life. This Disney musical will teleport you to a whole different world of magic spells and witches (okay just one witch, but trust me she is more than enough). The movie is the live-action adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical The Baker’s Wife. Into The Woods had an impressive star cast with names like Meryl Streep, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Pine.

The Baker’s wife wants to start a family but the witch has placed a curse on Baker’s family. Desperately wanting to have kids she agrees to all the demands of the witch as a result the couple sets out to live in the woods. This Emily movie earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

The Wind Rises1

It is an honor for every actor to be part of a Hayao Miyazaki movie. Studio Ghibli is considered the king of the animation world and The Wind Rises is one such brilliant work by the studio. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt voiced the characters of Jiro Horikoshi and his love interest Nahako Satomi.

The movie is considered one of the best anime movies and is based on the real-life story of a Japanese aeronautical engineer tasked with designing fighter planes for Japan during World War 2.
