Both of his parents are natives of Liverpool; his mother worked in social services while his father owned a bed and breakfast in Liverpool. Egerton moved with his mother to the Welsh island of Anglesey after his parents split when he was two years old. The family relocated to Aberystwyth when he was 12 years old. He started acting when he was 15 years old and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2012.
